8/30/2022

  • Interest Meeting. All Boys that are interested in playing basketball this year are required to attend the interest meeting on August 31 after school (3:00) in Portable 3. This meeting is required in order to participate. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Lockhart in Portable 3.

 

  • The first meeting of book club will be on Wednesday, August 31st at 3 pm in the library.

 

  • Any student interested in joining the track team, there will be conditioning on Wednesdays after school starting September 7th. Conditioning will be 3-4:30 pm. If you are interested in joining, please stop by room 400 to see Coach Ray.

 

  • Anyone in grade 10 English 2 for the first time is automatically signed up for the PSAT here at Pedro on October 12. If you are a grade 9 or 11 and would like to register, this Friday is your last chance. Go to Pedro website, click on payments $, then click schoolpay and sign up there. Seniors invited to take the SATNCR October 12 and ACT NCR November 1st need to turn in their form and money by next Friday. The sign up for the September 30th PERT test for grade 10-12 students in dual enrollment ends next Friday so go to your school counselor’s Schoology Course to sign up under Updates! Mrs. Purtill does not register students for the weekend SAT or ACT! You can do that at their websites

  • Are you interested in FBLA: Future Business Leaders of America? This is a great club to make friends, learn about the business world, and compete with other students in the district and state. FBLA will have 2 interest meetings on Thursday, 08/25 at 8:45 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Come to one of those meetings in room 960 with Mr. Hendricks, if you are a current member or are interested in joining FBL, Again, that’s this Thursday (08/25) at 8:45 a.m. or 4:00 p.m. in room 960.

  • Juniors and Seniors, tickets are still available for Prom. Get your tickets now on School Pay. Prom is April 22nd at the River House Downtown.

 

  • Our first ever Book Fair will be taking place the week of April 11th! Start saving up your money and come ready to shop! You can visit through your ELA class or during your lunch.

 

  • It’s time for another 20 Book Challenge reward! Stop by and check in with Ms. Neff to update her on your 20 Book Challenge process so you can register for our Read-In Day on April 20th. You need to check in with her by April 14th to attend.

 

  • It’s National School Library Month, and to add a little fun to our celebrations, Ms. Neff has hidden her Bitmoji in books around our library. If you find her Bitmoji, bring it up to the circulation desk for a prize. There are two hidden each day, so that’s double the chance to win each day!

 

  • The National Honor Society will meet on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in the Media Center. Please read the NHS Schoology page for details about this meeting.

 

  • Little Shop of Horrors tickets are on sale now! Scan the QR code on the flyers to purchase tickets. Tickets are $5.00 for Pedro students and staff.

 

  • FSA tutoring with Ms. Emily Reid continues this week during your lunch period. Join us to explore test taking strategies and prepare for potential test questions.

  • The IB Dance Program presents Embody Dance Performance 2022, Work of Art! The show runs from March 30th-April 2nd starting with the in-school performance on Wednesday, March 30th. Teachers, please refer to the email that was sent out explaining how students can earn a ticket to this performance. Tickets for Thursday, March 31st, Friday, April 1st and Saturday April 2nd, are on sale now. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased from Ms. Rust in the PAC.

  • Come to VyStar to open an account or refer a friend to be entered into our St. Patrick’s Day promotion. Look around campus for shamrocks, read the special message on them and come to room 422. Make sure to look out for the special golden shamrock!

 

  • There will be a meeting for anyone interested in boys Volley Ball, tomorrow, March 10th @ 9:00 am in the gym.

 

 

  • “Earth Club is hosting a clothing drive March 21-25. Bring your gently used clothes, bags, sunglasses, belts, and hats to Room 820. The person who donates the most items will win a gift basket and a Target gift card. See Ms. Krenz for more details.”

 

  • Have you been feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and in need of encouragement? FCA would like to invite you to this Thursday’s meeting in the library at 8:30am to speak about living a life of joy!

Announcements

  • The LAST meeting of the Florida Teens Read/Battle of the Books team before the district battle will be on Tuesday, March 8th from 4-5 pm, so all members should attend. Please get your permission slips back to Ms. Neff before the end of this month.

 

  • PMHS is holding its first ever Read-a-Thon on Wednesday, March 2nd to raise money for our library for more books. Your entry fee is a new book or $5, and you will get a pledge sheet to raise funds for the pages you read. This event is limited to 50 people, so see Ms. Neff ASAP to get a permission slip and sign up.

 

  • There are only 5 spots left for this year’s talent show, PGT, on April 7th. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place as well as the People’s Choice Winner. Put that talent on stage!!!! Stop by room 935 to sign up. See Coach Ryan for further details.

  • This month’s Project Lit book club will meet on Wednesday, 2/23 at 8:40 in the library. Our theme this month is “All the Feels”, so any book featuring romance and relationships will work!

 

  • Calling all artists!!!! It is currently open submission for this year’s literary magazine… Ascension Vol.22!! Please submit your poetry, short stories, plays, photography, drawings, art, etc. to [email protected]. Include name and grade. Any questions see Coach Ryan in room 935.

 

  • It’s Time!! PGT..Pedro’s Got Talent is beginning to ramp up! 2022 Talent Show auditions are now being scheduled!!! Please stop by room 935 and sign up! See Coach Ryan for further details.

 

  • “Want to give a yummy treat to a special someone on Valentine’s Day? Best Buddies is selling cookie-grams during all 3 lunches. The cookie cakes are decorated with a sweet message and will be delivered on Valentine’s Day during 3rd period. The cookie cakes cost $6.00. Make sure you put an order in soon!”

  • Please support our IB Program by attending the IB SPIRIT NIGHT that will be held on Tuesday, February 1st at the Zaxby’s (St. Augustine South location). It will be from 5-8 p.m. Dine-In, Carry Out-, Or Drive Thru. Thank you for your support.

 

  • “Interested in participating in dual enrollment with First Coast Technical College – check out Schoology to register for a virtual information session taking place on February 3rd at 6pm.”

 

  • “Earth Club is hosting a Treaty Park Cleanup on Friday, February 4 after school. Meet at the playground in Treaty Park at 4:15pm and you will receive community service hours.”

 

  • If you have read at least 10 books for you 20 Book Reading Challenge, make sure to check in with Ms. Neff by Friday so you can get a FREE ticket to the homecoming dance.
