*Jan. 28th – Feb. 1st is Literacy Week.  Here is the schedule for the week-

*Today – Read a T Tuesday – wear a t-shirt with words

*Tomorrow – Wacky Reading Wednesday – get caught reading get candy

Throwback book character Thursday – with in dress code, Dress up like a book character.

Friday Reads – Blind Date with a book

 

*Anyone interested in being a contestant for the 2019 Talent Show need to see Coach Ryan in room 935.  Tickets are now available on SchoolPay. Talent Show is Feb. 28th and tickets are $8.00. See you there.

*There will be a box in your First period class starting Monday, Jan. 28th through Friday, Feb. 8th to donate item for St. Johns Homeless Coalition.  Blankets, Jackets, and Outerwear, are needed.  Donut Breakfast on Wed. Feb 13th for the most Donated.

*On Wednesday Jan. 30th from 5:pm – 7:30 pm Join the Model United Nations in the PAC as we remember the millions of victims who suffered during the Holocaust.  We will be showing the movie “Life is Beautiful”, a story about a Jewish-Italian family separated by the Nazis and taken to a concentration camp.  We will conclude with time for discussion and reflection.

 

*The RUFF Club will meet after school this Wednesday, Jan 30th in room 770.  Please make sure you have a ride home after meeting.

* If you have any students who need a job, Lowe’s is hiring. They will be having a Job Fair this Thursday, Feb 1st from 9:am – 6:pm.

JV and Varsity football players who were not at the awards banquet need to see Coach DeVos in room 985 ASAP to pick up your certificates.

*Leonard’s studio is here on campus today for senior Cap & Gown Photos in the PAC until 1:pm.

*Congratulation to our Health Academy Students who competed at the regional competition and Placed.  Job well done by everyone!

 

Drama Club meets today, Jan. 28th in the Cafeteria after school until 5:pm.

Bring Limelight slips and money.  Arrange your rides home after meeting.

*Congratulations to the girls Weightlifting Team on their 2nd place finish at the District Championships.

Placers included:

1st place, District Champs – Emonei Wynn, Noel Plappert, & Lauren Prosuch.  2nd place District Runner Up was: Alyssa Semmelman, Daniela Murillo-Mendoza, & Kylie Stebbins.  3rd place, KatiAnn Vickers.  4th place, Krenna Rodriguez, Anyiah Foster, Ella Chang, & Ashley Fuentes and in 5th place, Kiera Semmelman & Ariana Rodriguez.  Come out Wednesday, Jan. 23rd to cheer the girls on at the Regional Championships here at Padro.

*National Honor Society will meet on Friday at 8:30 in the Media Center.

*Football: Returning Football players – There is a MANDATORY 7v7 MEETING today, Jan. 17th in room 995.  Any questions see Coach Skipper. If you did not play football, last season- stop by and see Coach Skipper in room 995 to discuss the offseason and 7v7.

*Football players interested in ordering photos from Leonard’s need to see Coach DeVos in room 985 ASAP for their order form.

*Softball Tryouts Tuesday, Jan. 22.  All pre-participation forms need to be turned in by Thursday, January 17th in order to play.  If you have any questions stop by room 222 for more information.

*We will be having tutoring today, Wednesday from 2:45 – 4:pm. There is bussing for anyone that needs it.

*Book Club meeting today, Wednesday after school in the media center.

*National Honor Society will meet on Friday at 8:30 in the Media Center.

*Drama Club meets Wednesday after school until 4:pm.  Please arrange your rides home.

*Students that are interested in taking Duel Enrollment classes. Today is the last day to sign up to take the PERT test with Mrs. Fitzgerald sign up during your lunch time.

*Sports News:

*Anyone interested in playing Tennis – There will be a meeting at the courts at 3:15 today, Wednesday after school.

*Football: Returning Football players – We will have a MANDATORY 7v7 MEETING this Thursday, Jan. 17th in room 995.  If you can’t attend see Coach Skipper. If you did not play football, last season- stop by and see Coach Skipper in room 995 to discuss the offseason and 7v7.

Good afternoon Falcons! Here are your announcements!

 

Congratulations to the Wrestling team on their Win against Episcopal last night.

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Soccer Team for their Win against St. Augustine on the first night of the Conference Tournament last night.  They won 4 – 3 with penalty shots during overtime.  There was a great turnout of Parent and students.  Such an Amazing night!

*We will be having tutoring every Wednesday from 2:45 – 4:pm. There is bussing for anyone that needs it.

National Honor Society will meet on Friday at 8:30 in the Media Center. NHS Officers will meet on Wednesday at 8:30 in room 8:45.

*We will be starting missing Assignment Lunch on Tuesday, Jan. 15th.

*The Rotary interact Club meeting has been rescheduled for Friday, February 1st.

*Students that are interested in taking Duel Enrollment classes may sign up to take the PERT test with Mrs. Fitzgerald during lunch.  Her office is Rm. 123 in the main hallway of the office area across from the teacher’s mailboxes.

Book Club meeting Wednesday Jan. 16th after school in the media center.

Student Council will meet next Tuesday, Jan. 15th at 8:45am in room 955.

 

Drama Club is ready to rock the New Year! The meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 9th, after school until 4:pm in the Cafeteria.  Arrange your ride home. Bring your enthusiasm and new Drama club members are welcome to join!

 

Sports News:

Track will have practice this week. There will be a Track team information meeting today Jan. 8th, 4:00pm in the cafeteria.

Baseball Meeting to discuss tryouts on Friday, January 11th at 4:00 pm in the cafeteria.
