5/4/2021

  1. Pedro Menendez IB Dance Program will be holding Menendez Dance Ensemble Auditions on May 18th from 4-6 pm. Auditions will be held in the PMHS Auditorium. Students auditioning will be dropped off at the front office to sign in and will be dismissed outside the auditorium. No parents are allowed on campus. MDE is an audition-based performance group that represents the PMHS Dance Program on campus and in the community. Please see Ms. Rust if you have any questions.

 

  1. Are you interested in joining our Florida Teens Read Book Club and maybe the Battle of the Books, too? If you’d like to join one or both, come to our meeting on Wednesday, May 5th at 3 pm in the library. If you love to read and talk to other people about books, this is the club for you! Open to all grades! See Ms. Neff for more information.

 

 

  1. PMHS DANCE TEAM TRY-OUTS will be May 24th & 25th in the gym from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. You will need an up to date physical and be athletically cleared. Any questions, please see Ms. Lyndon in room #290.

 

  1. “SENIORS!!!! You have until the July test to still qualify for Bright Futures!!!  Sign up with Mr. Erb for FREE virtual test prep sessions given Tuesday and Thursday nights!!! See Mr. Erb for details!!!”

 

  1. Seniors: make sure you are finding and beginning to return your overdue library books and textbooks from previous years. If you are unable to find your overdue items and need to know the price of them before Senior Clearance Day, stop by the library when they are not testing or message Ms. Neff to find out. All items will need to be returned or paid for by Senior Clearance Day, May 21st.

 

  1. Senior in need of SAT or ACT for Bright Futures, or haven’t taken either test yet, see Mrs. Purtill for a voucher. First come, first serve. There are only a few left, registration is due Friday!

Ms. Neff is redesigning our school library for the 2021-2022 school year and she wants to hear your ideas to make it a space of your dreams.   1. Congratulations to Junior Tobias Brown for setting a new school record in the 169-weight class for the clean and jerk of 270 pounds at FHSAA State weightlifting meet. The previous record was set by Treyvon Bryant in 2014.

  • Cheerleading tryouts are coming April 3rd! Clinics begin this today from 3 to 5 in the PAC and Thursday 4 to 6 pm. Please make sure you fill out the google interest form and contact Coach Turner with any questions.

  • “Spread the Word to end the Word, is coming Wednesday March 3. Stop by in the courtyard to a pledge against the use of the R Word.”
  • “If you are in Best buddies, don’t forget we’re having a meeting March 4th at 8:30.”
  • The Track team is looking for a 12 student volunteers for our home track meet next week (3/5). Volunteers will be asked to set up hurdles, measure jumps or throws and assist with meet management. Volunteers who sign up will be given a T-shirt and community service hours. If you are interested, please see Coach Ray in room 400 before school.
  • The Lady Falcon Lacrosse team visited Gainesville HS on Friday evening.

The Falcons defeated Gainesville HS (district opponent)18-6 for their first win of the season.Menendez was led by Raina Richard with 8 goals and 4 assists, Amber Fuentes with 4 goals and Kenzie Hagan with 4 goals and 2 assists. Caroline Bond and Amara Veng also scored a goal.

On Tuesday, March 2, the Lady Falcons will be playing their first home against Mandarin HS. The game will start at 5:30pm. Come out and enjoy a great game.

  • There are only TWO craft kits left for this month from the library! This month’s craft is making your own felt alpaca, and everything you need is included! But hurry, these last two kits will go fast!
  • Don’t forget this Friday is the last day to turn in your Winter Reading Challenge forms to the library! You don’t have to have all 14 categories completed, so just do your best and don’t forget to turn them in before you leave on Friday. Thanks!
  • Another great team win for the softball team last night defeating Flagler Palm Coast 7-5, moving to 2-0 on the season. Mandy Taylor picked up the win striking out 10 in for 4 1/3 innings while going 2-4 at the plate. PJ Gatlin went 3-4 with a homerun and 3 RBI’s. Grace Day went 2-4 with a double, Becca Faustini and Emma Bates went 2-4 while Jordan Alcorn had a double. Great job to all of our Softball players.
