Florida Teens Read book club has been moved to this Wednesday, the 27th. We will be discussing The Darkest Corners. We end at 3:45 so please make sure to have a ride home.

 

September is National Library Card Sign-up Month! If you have a public library card, enter to win a Barnes and Noble gift card by stopping by the media center throughout the month of September. The winner will be announced the last day of the month.

 

School picture day for grades 9-11 will be Monday, October 9th.

 

Last chance for Senior Portraits will be Thursday, October 12th.

 

The Model UN Ethnic Dinner will be tomorrow, Wednesday, at 6:pm in the Cafeteria.

 

PSAT is October 11th.  Any 9th or 11th grader who would like to take the test, please sign up in guidance. It is $20. This is a great practice for the SAT and may qualify for scholarships.

ALL, 10th graders will take this exam free.

 

VyStar- Our VyStar branch is open and ready for business. Come in and open an account today and each new member from this month will receive a free Chic-fill-A sandwich at the end of this month.

 

Wesleyan College will be here tomorrow Wednesday, September 27th. All college-bound students are encouraged to stop by during their lunch.

 

The September Blood Drive has been cancelled, all students with appointments MUST see Mr. Hoog in room 955 to reschedule for the November Blood Drive (11/15)

Boys’ Basketball try outs will be Monday October, 31 at 4:00. You must have a current up to date physical to tryout. Sign up in Coach Holmes room 940.

We will be giving the ASVAB on November 9th. This test is free of charge and helpful in making career choices.
If you are a junior or senior and would like to sign up see Mrs. Giuliani in Guidance.

Spanish Club will meet next Tuesday, November 1st after school. Please stop by room 740 ASAP for information.

Attention all NEW NHS members: Please turn in your dues, info sheet, and bylaws by Wednesday.

Any student that would like to attend the Florida Classic Football needs to see Dean Arnold for a permission form. The deadline for money and forms is Friday, November 4.Thank you!

All Unified flag football athletes need to stop by and see Coach Bowker in room 290 after 1st period during passing this includes officials.

The first meeting of film club will be Wednesday, November 2nd, at 3pm in the media center. If you are interested in film making and editing, this is the club for you!

Also, girls if you are need of a dress for tonight stop by and make appointment with Mrs. Arnold. There are lots of really nice gowns in our school dress shop.

The PSAT is October 19th. Signup in the Guidance office, before school and during lunches only. The cost is $20 for 9th and 11th graders, 10th graders are free and do not need to sign up. See Guidance for more information.

Applications are now open for National Honor Society. The application form is on the NHS website through the school’s website. Turn in applications to Mrs. Paone and Mrs. Neff in the media center now through September 28th. No late applications will be accepted.

 

Limelight Theater is looking for 4 musicians to play in the pit for the SCHOOL OF ROCK production. They are in need of a drummer and bass, keyboard and electric guitar players. Please contact Kristen at Limelight Theater if you are interested!!

 

There will be a girls weightlifting meeting on Monday September 26 at 8:30am in the weight room for all returning lifters and anyone interested.

 

There will be a GSA- LGBT meeting in room 755 after school today. Everyone is welcome.

 

Calling all girls who code! Any girl who is interested in computer programming, computer science, and coding is invited to our first Girls Coding Club meeting on Wednesday, October 5th at 3pm in the media center. We will be chatting with professional female coders. See Mrs. Neff if you have any questions.

LOST and FOUND- We have collected quit a few items in the lost and found. Hats, lunch bags, clothes, keys, glasses. If you have missed placed anything please stop by the front office and check to see if any of these items are yours.

The September 22nd Blood Drive is completely full…. Now students can register/sign up for the November 17th Blood Drive….

National Honor Society will be accepting applications for new members.  Candidates must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a 3.5 unweighted GPA and at least 2 honors level classes or higher.  Applications are located on the NHS web page or in the media center.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Neff or Mrs. Paone no later than September 11th.

Seniors, Sr. Dedications and Quotes are due on September 25th. Check out our Instagram page for current updates.

Senior IB Group Project meeting will be September 11th at 8:30am in room 975. Any SR. not in attendance MUST see Mr. Hoog!

PMHS is hosting a College and Career Fair tomorrow, Wednesday, September 9th from 6-7:30pm in the gym. There will be over 75 colleges in attendance—don’t miss your opportunity to speak with college reps.  All students and their families are encouraged to attend. See your guidance counselor for more information.

College visits are beginning next week. Fl. State will be here today, Tuesday, during lunch in the college reading room. And Fl Atlantic will be here tomorrow, Wednesday. All visits will be in the College Reading room, during all 3 lunches, so you cannot miss class to attend. See the guidance office for more information.

The PMHS Swim team is hosting its annual Pancake breakfast this Saturday Sept 12 at Shaughnessy’s in the Moultrie Plaza.

Tickets are only $5.00 and can be purchased from any swim team member or Mrs. Danner in Guidance.

Come out and eat breakfast with the swim team!

News from your media center: don’t forget to enter our library card contest. Come down to the media center to enter. We will be having an after-school party next Tuesday to celebrate the upcoming release of The Scorch Trials movie. The party will run from 4-5:30 in the media center. Try to have a ride because bus transportation is limited. Our first book club meeting will be Wednesday, September 30th at 3 pm. We will be discussing Noggin.

Any RUFF members interested in volunteering to walk dogs from SAFE after school next Tuesday should see Mrs. Morrison in room 770 for details.

Athletic Leadership Council is selling Bird Gang shirts for the BLACKOUT home football game against St Augustine on Friday September 4th! The cost is $10 and they will be sold during all lunches.

The media center will open on Tuesday, September 1st for general access during classes and lunch.

Blood Drive September 22nd, 9am – 1:45pm. Sign up with Mr. Hoog in room 975. Seniors, remember there’s a scholarship that you can apply for.
