**** Whenever given reading homework, it is impative that the info is retained as best as possible. Therefore taking cornell notes is highly recommended. Remember the goals for this class are two fold. 1. Achieve a high score on the Internal Assessment, and 2. To pass paper 3 (H.O.A) at the end of your senior year. Getting a good grade in this class is a bonus, but are real goals are listed above.

8-23-11 Got textbooks today,which included "History of the Americas-course companion",  "Latin America", and "Anna Kingsley.

8-26-11 Finished notes on causes of the revolution, and began to watch video clip on Lexington and Concord. Homework=read pages9-20 in H.O.A, pages 1-30 in Anna
           Kingsley, and to read the chapter on the Amethyst in the Cold War book.
8-29-11- Socratic seminar on first 30 pages of Anna Kingsley. Each student should bring 1 question to use as part of the discussion from the book.Homework= begin
            reading page 31-end of Anna Kingsley.
8-30-11 Test on Anna Kingsley. Read pages 21-26. Complete the assignment on page 26.
8-31-11 Finish video clip on Lexington and Concord. Begin Lex+Conc.DBQ in class.

9-13  Students will turn in Cornell notes on H.O.A for credit. In class students will be working on the outline in the Latin America book.
9-14 Students will complete a Rev. War DBQ in class.
9-15 Students will continue to work on outline in Latin America book.
9-16- Students will watch "A More Perfect Union" and answer questions that go along with the movie.
9-19- Went to the library to work on the Latin America outlines.
9-20- Continue working in the library on L.A outlines.
9-21- In class students will complete a timed Document based question (DBQ) test on the American Revolution.
9-22- In class student will present their findings from the Latin America outlines.

9-26- We went over the DBQ in class, continued working on the notes/powerpoint on revolutionary war battles.
9-27-Read HOA textbook in class.
9-28-IB students will not be in class. Science projects.

10-11-Continued cornell notes on the causes of the civil war. Students were assigned to read pages87-97 in L.A. And homework was to reasearch and take notes on the Ostend Act of 1854. Also students were assigned to make a set of flash cards for the causes of the revolution (with dates and events) and the causes of the civil war.
