Welcome to my class home page!

Hello students and parents welcome to my home page, I hope you have a great year. Here you will find all necessary information about my class, especially homework or classwork that has been assigned.
I will be following all PMHS rules on dress code, attendance, and cellphone/I-pod policies.

What do I need for this class?- 1. A good attitude, someone who is an open minded thinker and is motivated to succeed.
                                        2. You need a notebook to keep you notes inside. I don't really care which type but note taking will be common here and extra-credit is often given to students who have their notes                                            with them the day of a quiz.
                                        3. Dual enrollment students- will need to obtain a copy of the books "Anna Kingsley" by Dan Schafer, and "Fort Mose" by Jane Landers. Both books are around 60 pages. There are
editions of Anna Kingsley that are much longer, and that is not the edition that I am talking about. The Menendez library has nearly 100 copies of the book, but there may be more that
students in D.E. If you were unable to get a copy at our library, the public library might have it for loan, or the oldest house(not oldest schoolhouse) and the Castillo de San Marco (The
fort) gift shops will likely carry it. If a student buys a copy and will donate it to the Menendez library when they are finished with it, I will give them some extra-credit.

What can I expect from this class? 1. You can expect to find a teacher who truly loves the subject of history and strives to find relevent ways to convey the past to highschool students in a way that is both clear and
                                                enjoyable.
                                                2. You can expect to have quizzes on Fridays, tests when we finish a chapter, and homework occasionally. More occasionally for the D.E classes.
                                                3. You can expect to find higher level types of questions, discussions and subject matter.
                                                4. You can expect to find guest speakers from time to time.
                                                5. You can expect research papers occasionally.

How will I be graded?   - My 3 grading categories are homework, quiz and test points. None of these categories are specifically weighted. In other words homework wil not always count for a certain percentage of the
grade. Each assignments points will be compiled into a pool of points. Your son/daughters's grade will simply be his or her total points divided by how many points were tallied into a
                                particular grading period.

What do students like about my class?- It's not boring. Usually:) I try to tax their intellect and tell some good stories at the same time.
