Our Pedro Menendez Fall Open House will be Thursday, October 2nd.

At 5:30 we will have a baked ziti dinner in the cafeteria.  After that you will be able to visit classrooms.

That night you will be able to sign up for home access, buy a yearbook at discounted rate and sign up for an account at VyStar.

There’s only one week left to enter the media center’s library card contest! If you have a public library card, stop by the media center to enter our drawing for $25 to Barnes and Noble! Contest ends 9/30 at the end of the school day.

Today after school, there will be a freshman class skit meeting with Coach Melgard. Please meet in the Gym Hallway.

Senior women meeting this Wednesday Oct 1st in 216 immediately after school.  Please bring your gift bags for the “Betty Griffin House women’s shelter project.”  I will be collecting them that day.  We should also vote on the “Senior Slogan” for the panoramic pictures, and assign letters.  Don’t miss out!

Japanese Culture Club will be held after school today in the Library.

Athletic Leadership Council is sponsoring a Canned Food Drive.  We are competing in a “Fill the Bus” Challenge against Nease High School.  Please bring your canned food donations to the Dean’s office.  There will be collection bins outside of Dean Winter’s office.  The final date to donate is Oct. 10, when we play Nease at home in football.  Let’s fill the bus Menendez!

For those of you who were unable to attend the Student Council meeting, there will be a makeup meeting tomorrow, Friday, September 26th at 8:45am in room 975.

Any sophomore interested in buying a Skit T-shirt should see Ms. Lengyel or Ms. Jasmin before Thursday, October 2.  T-shirts are $10.

Interact meeting after school today, in Mr. Higgins room 825.

The Spotlight Club will meet tomorrow Wednesday, September 24 immediately afterschool. Please see Ms. Arnold for more information.

See you at the pole is tomorrow Wednesday, September 24th, at 8:30am. Feel free to come out to the flag pole next to the football stadium for food, music and prayer.

Attention: All returning girls and girls interested in being on the girls weightlifting team there will be a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday September 24 at 8:45am in the weight room.

Attention all HOSA members – there will be a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday (Sept 24) at 8:30am in Mrs. Jones room (room 222)

Blood Drive – Remember to eat well prior to donating blood tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23rd . Also, remember to bring your picture ID (not school ID) and your pass to the bus. If you have misplaced the pass, see MR. Hoog in room 975.

The first meeting of our new Florida Teens Read book club will be this Wednesday, September 24th from 3-4 in the media center. Our first book will be the 5th Wave, so make sure you’ve at least started reading the book before the meeting! We will have snacks and there will be buses home if you need them.

Ping Pong Club meetings will be moved to Tuesdays starting tomorrow.  Please see Mr. Luker with any questions.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BOY’S GOLF TEAM – John Gleaton was the match medalist scoring a 37, leading the Boy Falcon’s to a win over the Nease Panthers 172 to 174.  Eric Prill shot a 44 and Walker Sims carded a 45. The Boy’s next play in the Conference Tournament on Thursday……

Congratulations to the Cross country Team: Reagan Bush placed third overall at the Katie Caples cross country invitational on Saturday. Reagan was recognized by the St. Augustine Record for her outstanding performance.

The boys’ varsity cross-country team beat St. Augustine high school again for the second week in a row.

Student council is pleased to announce the 1st Blood drive of the year is September 23rd- sign up in room 975 with Mr. Hoog. Seniors there is a scholarship associated with donating.

Student Drivers:

Please purchase your parking decals.  You need to bring a notarized application, your Driver’s License, registration and car insurance plus $75 to Mrs. John.

Any vehicle without a parking decal will be ticketed and the possibility of a boot placed on the vehicle!

College visits begin this week, sign up in the Guidance Office.

UF on the 15th. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the admissions rep and learn more about applications and deadlines.

Students:  Please check the Volunteer Bulletin Board in the guidance office hallway for all volunteer opportunities as well as job postings.  If you should have any questions, please see Mrs. Giuliani

Attention all Health Academy students: HOSA applications are due today, Wednesday (Sept 10). There will be a brief HOSA meeting Thursday morning (Sept 11) in Mrs. Jones room (room 222) to vote for officers. You must have your application turned in and dues paid to vote in the election!!

If you are interested in pursuing a web or graphic design career, AIGA, The American Institute for Graphic Arts, is hosting a spectacular mentoring program in Jacksonville. Interested students need to apply by Monday, September 15th. See Mrs. Bendt in Room 925 for details.

Sophomore class meeting Tuesday the 16th at 8:30 in Mrs. Jasmin’s room, 650).  We will be discussing upcoming events, including skit night.  If you cannot attend please see Mrs. Jasmin, room 650 or Ms. Lengyel, room 440.
