Congratulations Trellis Alexander, Halen Steward, and Trey Kidd for competing at the Boys Weightlifting State Meet in Orlando this weekend!  Great job this season!

Prom tickets are on sale in Mrs. Taylor’s office. They are $85. If you are bringing a guest from outside of Pedro Menendez High School, they must have a guest form filled out which is also available from Mrs. Taylor.

Boys’ basketball will be hosting its 1st annual 3 on 3 tournament this Thursday, April 23rd starting at 4:30. $5 per player, 5 player maximum per team. $1 for spectators. See Coach Bailey, room 999 for entry and consent forms. Forms are due back to Coach Bailey by Tuesday, April 21st.

Blood Alliance scholarship is due April 30th see Mr. Hoog for details or the scholarship web page.

Our 2015 Yearbook is due to arrive in early May! If you have not yet purchased yours, you may bring cash or a money order to Room 925 during any lunch!

We have less than 200 yearbooks available for sale! Get yours while you can.

If you would like to earn volunteer hours at Southwoods 5K, 10K, 15K Challenge Spud Runs on Saturday May 2nd, see Mrs. Carter or Mrs. Price for more information.

Volunteers are needed for the Otis Mason Elementary Spring Fling, on Saturday, May 16, 11am-3pm. This is a great way to earn community service hours. Please see Ms. Neff or Mr. Pillay for more details.

The powderpuff football game is THIS WEDNESDAY, April 22 @6PM. Tickets are being sold for $5 at the tiki hut during lunch. Tickets will be $8 at the gate. PMHS Cheer will be providing a full concession stand at the game. Any junior or senior interested in cheering at the game must attend a practice in room 440 Wednesday before the game from 3-5.

Results for the Menendez High School boys and girls tennis teams at the FHSAA Class 2A State Tennis Championships at Sylvan Lake Park in Sanford today:

Boys #1 singles

Grant Kayworth, received the #4 seed and won his quarterfinal singles match 6-0, 6-0 versus Nicholas Yale from Tampa Catholic. In the semifinal Kayworth was defeated 6-1, 6-4 by the #2 seed Dimitri Salzmann from Archbishop McCarthy (Southwest Ranches). It was Kayworth’s first loss at singles this year, he finished the season at 18-1.

Boys #1 doubles Grant Kayworth and Paul Razon, lost in the quarterfinals 6-2, 5-7, 13-11 to Eugenio Macouzet from Bishop Moore (Orlando).

Girls #1 singles Ellie Leach, was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Sarah Perkins from Belleview in a first round match.

Girls #1 doubles Ellie Leach and Emily Kayworth lost their quarterfinal doubles match 6-1, 6-4 to Emma Mararyan and Valentina Vaca, from Suncoast (Riviera Beach).

Congratulations to the Boys Weightlifting team on finishing a great season last night against Warner Christian on Senior Night with a win 64 – 21…Thank you seniors!!!!

ATTENTION FBLA MEMBERS!  TODAY, April 7, is the deadline to make a reservation for the FBLA Field Trip to Universal and Islands of Adventure on May 16.  Please turn in your BLUE reservation form and $50 deposit to Mrs. Smith or Mr. Connors.

At the Class 2A, Region2 District 4 tennis tournament hosted by Menendez High School the Menendez boys and girls team both won and will each host a regional semifinal next week.

The wins by Grant Kayworth in Boys #1 singles, Ellie Leach in Girls #1 singles, Grant Kayworth and Paul Razon in Boys #1 doubles, and Ellie  Leach and Emily Kayworth in Girls #1 doubles and qualify them for the state championship tournament beginning April 15 at Sylvan Lake Park in Sanford.

Congratulations to the Boys Weightlifters who competed in the Sectional Finals meet at Keystone Heights High School!

The team finished 3rd out of 15 teams!

Individual places were:  4th place- Adam Nazworth and Kurt Middlebrook, 3rd place- Christian Goolsby and Jonathan Looney, and 2nd place- Trellis Alexander, Trey Kidd, and Halen Steward.  All 7 of these lifters have been put into a pool and could compete at the State Championship Meet.  We will know next week.

Menendez High School is hosting the Class 2A, Region2 District 4 tennis tournament with boys and girls teams from Bradford, Clay, Keystone Heights, Ridgeview, and Wolfson. After the first day the Menendez girls are in first place with 8 points and the Menendez boys are tied with Ridgeview for first place with 10 points. Action continues today at 9 am with the Menendez boys in all 5 singles finals and the semi-finals in both doubles. The Menendez girls are in 3 of the 5 singles finals and both doubles semifinals.

Attention all returning football players, morning workouts will start this week and will be at 7:30am on Monday and Wednesday.

  1. Try-outs for the 2015-2016 Magic Dance Team will be held April 7th and 9th after school. There will be an informational meeting today, Tuesday, March 31st at 5:30pm in room 440, for anyone interested in trying out. Please see Ms. Lengyel in room 440 for the required try-out paperwork.

 

  1. Powderpuff Sponsorship forms are due today, Wednesday, April 1st to Mrs. Jasmin or Ms. Lengyel. Any junior or senior interested in playing, coaching or cheering for powderpuff can pick up a packet starting tomorrow, Wednesday April 1st from Mrs. Jasmin or Ms. Lengyel. Volleyball-

Senior women are hosting a Food Fight to benefit St. Francis House Soup Kitchen.  A free breakfast from Chik Fila will be offered to the first period class that collects the most food by April 2nd right before Easter Break.  Start bringing in any nonperishable cans and boxes to your first period class next week.  Senior women will be picking them up and weighing them in.

Mr. Menendez is tomorrow night at 6:30 in the PAC. Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door.
